The Tectonics Lab is a collaborative network of specialists which was come into being in 2010 by the architect Hyundai Kim in New York. The lab was initiated at Ewha Womans University Department of Architecture as Hyundai Kim joined the faculty in 2012. Tectonics Lab received a 2012 Korea Golden Scale Best Design Award with Wonder Architects for its Itaewon Elementary School Multi-culture Classroom design.
At the Tectonics Lab, disciplinary boundaries are blurred and the transitional momentum is appreciated. The lab is focusing on work ranging from transdisciplinary initiatives to create innovative design solutions, to speculative research projects for better environment.
